Attention Bracket Racers:

We have received some questions on how bye runs are determined and how the system works. Here is an explanation.

Bye runs are given by the tower using a confidential mathematical formula that allows for a random draw. On a solo pass, a driver who has the 'bye' need only to break the beams under power to receive a win. A bye is considered "given" and/or 'used' if that driver was not paired in the staging lanes or if that driver was paired and made a single run due to competitor forfeit. A driver who has the bye, races a competitor and wins, will carry the bye to the next round. Whether by a break single (competition bye) or receiving a solo run, that driver will not be eligible for a second bye until all remaining competitors have also had a bye or solo pass. Once three vehicles remain and if none of those vehicles are holding the bye or have had a bye (solo pass) a  flip of the coin method will be used to determine who then gets the bye run. It should also be noted that the racer that is carrying the bye run will not have lane choice for any rounds of competition while holding that bye opportunity. The reason for this ruling is that if a racer carries the bye and doesn't use it he could end up with lane choice each round for the entire race creating an unfair factor.
